Hello,

I was trying to include the diode 1N4007 for my circuit drawn from scratch. But I am unable to include the diode into my schematic even though the 1n4007.lib file is present in physical storage of my computer under "modelLibrary". Can you please let me know how to include it in my circuit.

Can you please tell us at what stage you are getting the issues,
Did you use the import option? and if so, can you pls tell us what error message it is saying? pls tell us more about the issue you are facing, like tell us the error.

Hello,

1. I am getting the issues while I try to include component diode 1n4007 into my schematic diagram.
2. I imported the 1n4007.lib file (which was in the folder "<install_dir>/OSCAD/modelLibrary") into my project. But while I was trying to "place a component", by typing keyword "1n4007", it was displaying error message "No components found matching name search criteria <*1N4007*> ". Then I tried to rename the value of a normal device to "1n4007", it gave following error "Component library </SNS/OSCAD/oscad_install_dir/OSCAD/modelLibrary/1n4007.lib> failed to load.Error: The file is NOT an EESCHEMA library!".

Please let me know am I wrong somewhere ?

Note :
1. I am using Ubuntu ver 12.04.
2. The OSCAD version was downloaded from oscad.in site.

Update1 : I even tried importing using Model Builder.
Update2 : I used the installer from the CD (given to me at PESIT, Bangalore) and tried. But same problem.
Update3 : I even tried in Windows machine (Win 7), still the same problem.

Please let me know if I am missing somewhere in importing 1n4007. It would be helpful if you guide me on this.

(1) Include a diode in your schematic (type D to search the component in Schematic editor)
(2) Rename the "value" of the component to 1n4007. The default name would be "diode"
(3) Generate netlist
(4) Using model builder, "import" the "1n4007" model library. Edit the library if you want to.
(5) Do netlist conversion
(6) simulate the circuit

I could simulate my circuit with 1n4007. Thanks for the help offered by your team.
