ls there anyway of doing shortcut methods of estimating minimum number of trays of absorption and extraction in DWSIM. lf no, how does one come up with initial guesses when designing such unit operations using simulation. Thanks.

Answers:

The unit operation for calculating guess values for rigorous absorption column is not available. You can calculate approximate value for initial guess by using Kremser's equations.

In order to use Kremser's equation, I am assuming you have used Henry's Law first in order to find out Concentration of solute which needs to be absorbed in the absorbent; and also Henry's constant which is used in finding slope of equilibrium line. (Henry's constant/Pressure = Slope). 
My question here is, which solute is considered to get absorbed? So accordingly it can be clear to obtain above parameters in order to get Number of Stages. And gets easy to move further with the problem.
