How will I come to know that the assignment is successfully submitted?
Also, how will I know that the answer given by me in the assignment is correct....????

Answers:
When the 'Submission status' of the assignment is 'Submitted for grading'.
You can edit the submission till the assignment due date I think.
Also, sometimes there is also a confirmation asking whether the current submission is your final submission for the assignment.
Depends on the settings setup for the assignment by the Course Teacher.
Some settings are:
- Require students to click the submit button
- Require that students accept the submission statement
The second part: "Also, how will I know that the answer given by me in the assignment is correct....????"
That you will come to know after the Teacher grades the assignment and releases the marks to the students.
This is again controlled by how the assignment is setup by the course teacher.
Once the teacher releases the marks and makes it visible to the students of the course, only then the students can see/view their grades for the graded assignment.
The 'Grading status' of your assignment submission will change to 'Graded'.
You will also see your Grade/Marks for the assignment, Graded by, Graded on, Feedback comments etc. details in Feedback section after grading is done by the course teacher.
