  Hello Aleena,

Please make sure that Java program is installed properly, To check if Java is installed properly, oprn the command prompt on your system and type the following command.

  java -version

Press enter to execute the command,

If Java is installed properly the version number will be displayed on the terminal, please see the attached picture. For me it showed "java version 1.8.0_361"

Download the latest version of Jmol using the link given below

https://jmol.sourceforge.net/download/

Extract the downloaded zip file and double click on Jmol (Executable Jar File) from the list.

I have kept both Java as well as Jmol installer files in C drive Downloads folder.

Please see the attached pictures.

It is most likely that Java is not installed on your system.

Please follow the given instructions  given below to install Java on your system:

  Installation of Java on Windows

1. Open any web browser and go to java.com.
2. Click on Java Download button.
3. Download Java for Windows page opens. Read the license page. Click on Agree and Start Free
Download button.
4. A prompt appears to save the executable .exe file. Click on Save file option.
5. Click on the downloaded .exe file. A window opens Do you want to allow this app to make
changes to your device. Click on yes.
6. License agreement window opens. Click on Install button. Installation begins.
7. The progress of the installation is seen on the status bar in the window.
8. After the installation is complete a message is seen You have successfully installed Java. Close
the window.
9. To check whether Java is installed on your system, do the following:
Open the terminal.
Procedure to open terminal in Windows: Open the terminal by typing cmd in the search bar
in the Start Menu.
At the command prompt type, java -version and press Enter on your keyboard.
It will show the version number of Java already installed on your system.

Let me know if you still have issues regarding installation of Java and Jmol.

First of all thankyou for helping me in this matter. Sir actually i have downloaded java as per the instructions given by you and even checked in the command prompt as you said and it showed me the same version which you have i.e java version 1.8.0_361 but that file is still not opening. I am doing this jmol work in the windows batch file of jmol . I have not found any problem in doing work in this file except that when i save my molecule's image in .mol format it gets saved but doesn't open . And the problem still persists where java installation is done but whenever i try to open the executable file it asks to reinstall.

For some reason , I am unable to read your full message here in the forums.

Please write to me and send your .mol files to the following email id, I will try to figure out and resolve the issue.

  snehak1814@gmail.com

Please use Jmol (executable jar file) to open the Jmol interface and save the models as .mol file. If you save in  image format for example, JPEG or PNG or PDF you will not be able to open in Jmol interface.
