To type in Assamese in Libreoffice writer, Please do the following steps:
1. Click on the Settings menu and select Region and Language option in the top-right drop down.
2. In the Region & Language, go to the Manage Installed Languages.
3.You will see a notification about Language support not available. Click Install button and the Authenticate with the system password.
4. In the Language Support window Click on Install or Remove languages button.
5.You can see Installed Languages window. Select Assamese language from the window and click Apply.
6, Now restart your computer. And again go to Settings and now go to the Manage Installed Languages. Click on the + icon which is below the Input sources.
7. If you do not see Asssamese in the window. Close the window.
8.Open Software updater and update your system. After the system gets updated it will ask for Restart. Click the Restart Now button.
9. Again go to Settings and now go to the manage installed language. Click on the + icon which is below the Input sources.
10. Now you can see the Asssamese language. Click on it and select phonetic (m17n).
11. Open Libreoffice, in the top most right corner you see the language change option and click Assamese.
12. Change your font to “Lohit Assamese”, and write in Assamese.
13. To go back to English select en in the top drop-down.
