On my interface checkbox for “Save only selected features”  is disabled, what should I do. I am using QGIS 3.16 on Ubuntu 18.04 OS.

That option will be activated only when some of the features (point/line/polygon) in vector file are selected:

To select the features go to the Attributes Toolbar > Go to select features > select the features in your vector file by clicking or dragging >> Go on Layers panel (left side of the QGIS window) >> Select your Vector file >> Right Click >> Export >> Save Selected Feature As (now activated) >> Define the name and folder location for the vector file >> OK
