hi,
after successful compilation and uploading when it displays connecting i pressed the pushbutton as told and then the  following error message is displayed.
esptool.FatalError: Failed to connect to ESP8266: Invalid head of packet (0x00).please help

Answers:

I would suggest you to follow the setup instructions again and not miss a single point and redo the procedure of uploading. Check whether pins are grounded properly and supply points giving required voltages.
