Koha 20 Acquisitions versus cataloging
Title
Question
Hi,
How can I ensure that library administrators in koha can not check out a book which has not been purchased or acquired?
In other works does koha allow cataloging only after books have been acquired into the koha from vendors or suppliers.
Can one check out a book that has only been cataloged but not purchased or the acquisition process has not been done?
Thanks

Answers:
Koha allows direct import data from other Library Management software using MARC21, you can directly add data in the cataloging module. Without doing the acquisition process you can catalog books and you can check out them also.
You can restrict a particular book from Edit items using the following steps
Step 1: Go to cataloging (open the particular book which you want to restrict)
Step 2: Click on Edit items (opens edit items page)
Step 3: Find 7-Not for Loan then click on the dropdown and select In-process
Step 4: Click on the Save button
Now you can not issue the restricted book.
Even you can restrict Item type collection also using the following steps
Step 1: Go to Koha Administration
Step 2: find Basic parameters click on Item Types
Step 3: Select the Item types which you want to restrict
Step 4: Tick on the check box of Not for Loan
Step 5: Click on Save Changes at the bottom
