how to cut just the usernames from the file /etc/passwd ?

We can use text editors like vi, vim,gedit, nano with sudo privilege and cut or edit /etc/passwd file. We strongly recommend don't edit /etc/passwd file, if any wrong changes you may face login or booting issues after restart.
