Question
I have successfully installed mysql client in my Ubuntu Desktop 16.04. but after it I am unable to open it as It did not prompted me for giving user defined mysql account password? Can I see the existing root password or change the root password there after?

Please make sure your MySQL server is running. While installing mysql-server it will ask to setup a new password for root.
The mysql client is a simple program which communicate with MySQL server.
