We FIRST select the appropriate footprints for components and THEN create the .net netlist

To select the footprints, click on Cvpcb icon, the components present in your schematic will appear, you select a particular component by clicking on it. Then we have to select the appropriate footprint library, from which we select the required footprint. Steps demonstrated in detail in the tutorial, kindly watch it.

Out of the 3 options to select the library filters, clicking on it once either selects of deselects the filter. If a filter is applied, that filter icon will be highlighted in light red color

On what basis we can select CP_Axial_L11.00m_D5.0mm_P18.00mm

Why we choose Radial instead of Axial..

Selection has to be done keeping dimension constraints in mind. You can check the 3D view of the footprint and make that choice.
For this assignment, we are not asking for specifics. You can choose any appropriate footprint of your choice

And then we assign
Capacitor_THT:CP_Axial_L11.0mm_D5.0mm_P18.00mm_horizontal instead of Capacitor_THT:CP_Radial_D5.0mm_P2.50mm

Yes, you can

This only or we can check any library..

select any capacitor footprint you wish to use
